Congratulations to Mutahir Rahman MJDF (RCSEng), who has been re-elected for a second term as Director of the Faculty’s West Midlands Division.
Mutahir qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2008, and following a successful year in vocational training has held Senior House Officer posts in the maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry departments. He currently holds the post for Speciality Dentist and Senior Dental Officer with an interest in periodontology.
The West Midlands division is an active and diverse regional team, offering a broad range of support and activities. Upcoming events include A Minimal Invasive Aesthetic Masterclass on 23 November and IRMER - Dental Radiography and Radiation Protection on 1 December, with both events taking place in Birmingham.
In addition to social events, study days, workshops and conferences, the division recognises excellence through two annual awards, the John Gilmour Award for excellence in Dental Foundation Training, and the Peter Lowndes Prize for excellence in Dental Therapy Foundation Training.
Getting involved with your Division is a rewarding way to have influence within your local dental community, to network and to share good practice and know-how. Each Division has a Board, and if you are an FGDP(UK) Member or Fellow, you have the opportunity to stand for election for one of these roles and make a direct impact within your profession. For more information or to get involved please contact the Faculty's Membership Engagement Officer.
