FGDP(UK) transfer to the College of General Dentistry
FGDP(UK) will transfer to the College of General Dentistry from 1 July 2021. Faculty members are invited to confirm their membership preference to come into effect from this date onwards. Information about the transfer can be found here. Membership of the College is currently open to FGDP(UK) members, and DCPs. Membership will open to all dental professionals soon. About the Faculty
The Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) is the only professional membership body in the UK specifically for general dental practice. As the professional home for primary care dentistry, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of oral health care, and are passionate about representing our profession and the interests of our members locally, nationally and internationally. Our membership of over 4,000 members reflects the diversity and depth of the general dental practice team, including students currently studying to become dentists. Whether they are dentists or DCPs, our members come from NHS, private and mixed practices and so represent the full breadth of the profession.

We uphold the highest standards in dentistry, and as a member you are sending a clear message to your peers and patients of your credibility and trustworthiness as you also uphold these standards of excellence.

Membership of the Faculty is available for all general dental professionals registered with the General Dental Council (GDC; or overseas equivalent).
If you are a registered dental care practitioner and hold a postgraduate dental qualification, you are eligible for full membership. Associate membership is open to other practitioners who are registered with the GDC.
We support you throughout your whole career - from your BDS, to when you qualify, right through to becoming a senior dentist with enhanced skills, experience and knowledge. We are with you every step of the way, helping you to reach your professional goals, whatever they may be.

FGDP(UK) is governed by a Board elected by and from the Faculty membership, ensuring that we represent the needs, interests and hopes of general dental practice throughout the UK. Motivated members also have many opportunities to contribute to and influence the future of the profession through consultations, education, networking with key decision makers, publications and more.

Qualified dentists can join as an Associate Member, and be eligible for a range of member benefits to help you progress professionally, alongside support and networking from peers and other senior members. As you build your experience and qualifications, such as MJDF, MFDS, postgraduate diplomas or Masters, you can join or upgrade to become a Full Member, with its additional professional standing and status, alongside a range of additional benefits. If you are at the pinnacle of your career, you can join as one of our highly respected Fellows.
DCPs join as an Affiliate Member. As a valuable member of the dental team we can support you in your professional development.
