CPD event: Barriers & tools to reduce inequalities in planned dental visiting

13 February 2020

Barriers & tools to reduce inequalities in planned dental visiting

Every week about 11,000 people in the UK visit their GP with dental problems, which also cause 0.7% of A&E visits. Professor Rebecca Harris invites FGDP(UK) Members to an event to share her work for NIHR on developing materials to encourage these patients to make planned dental visits.

The event is free, lunch and refreshments are provided, and verifiable CPD will be available. There is also the opportunity to view a new photography exhibition on barriers to scheduled dental care, and to attend its launch reception.

Thursday 13 February

12:30 - 13:30     Registration, lunch and viewing

13:30 - 16:30     Main event

17:00 - 18:30     Exhibition launch reception

Participants are asked to register in advance, and to indicate each of the sessions they plan to attend.

Venue:

The Foresight Centre

University of Liverpool

1 Brownlow Street

Liverpool

L69 3GL

Aim:

To gain an insight into the barriers to regular dental care which are experienced by people, especially by those living in disadvantaged areas, and to learn about tools being developed to address these.

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the perspective of adults who currently only use dental services when they have a problem

  • To increase awareness of approaches which support urgent dental service users into planned dental visiting

  • To increase awareness of the value of gathering views from patients, communities and the public, and novel ways in which this can be done
