The Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) is the only professional membership body in the UK specifically for general dental practice.
We seek to improve the standard of care delivered to patients through standard setting, publications, postgraduate training and assessment, education and research.
Full Membership is open to all dental practitioners who hold a postgraduate dental qualification and are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC; or overseas equivalent). Associate Membership is open to all others registered with the GDC.
To positively influence oral health, through education of the dental profession and the provision of evidence-based guidance.
How we are governed
The FGDP(UK) is governed by a Board elected by and from the Faculty membership. Any Full (including MJDF) member of the Faculty can stand for election to the Faculty Board. The Board is led by the Dean of the Faculty, who is elected to serve for a three year term. The Dean is supported by two Vice-Deans who are elected to serve two year terms.
The current Dean is Dr Mick Horton, and the Board comprises sixteen other members. Find out more.
