The Faculty is continually looking for ways in which to provide financial support through awards or grants.
British Society of General Dental Surgery (BSGDS) Scholarship Award
This scholarship award, of up to £6,000, is held in association with the BSGDS. The award is administered annually by the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK).
Criteria
The award is for a single research project in primary dental care, carried out by a general dental practitioner over a period of two years.
Applicants should be general dental practitioners of at least four years standing.
It is essential that each application is accompanied by a suitable budget.
Assessment
A panel comprising of members of the FGDP(UK) Research Committee and the BSGDS Executive Committee will meet to assess the applications. The name of the successful applicant will be announced by the Chairman of the FGDP(UK) Research Committee. The FGDP(UK)/BSGDS reserve the right to withhold the award if they feel the protocols submitted are not of a sufficiently high standard.
Conditions
Successful candidates will be required to provide an in-depth written report to the Faculty's Research Committee three times a year. Payment of the award will be staggered over the project duration to ensure appropriate progress is being made from the evidence provided within the reports.
