DCP publications

Standards in Dentistry is the FGDP(UK)'s flagship publication, bringing together all the clinical and non-clinical standards in current circulation. The innovative package includes an online component, allowing for regular updates. Now that all DCPs are individually responsible for keeping up to date with best practice guidelines, the package is recommended for all dental professionals, including registered DCPs, practice managers, and those in secondary care.

Teamwork 7: A Training Companion for Dental Nurses was designed for trainee dental nurses working towards registration qualifications. The book covers all of the essential knowledge a dental nurse needs to know, including anatomy, oral health education, radiography and infection control, and is recommended to all DCPs as a revision guide and reference book.

Clinical Examination and Record-Keeping is a reference guide to dental records for all clinicians. It is essential for an integrated dental team that all team members are able to keep and interpret dental records adequately. The book includes topics which are of extra relevance to particular members of the team, such as charting, taking medical and dental histories, periodontal records and orthodontic evaluation, as well as more general topics, such as radiographs, consent to treatment, confidentiality and data protection.

The Key Skills in Primary Dental Care e-learning package was originally designed to accompany the (now discontinued) MFGDP(UK) examination, but in 2007 the package was updated and made more relevant to DCPs. The set of seven CD-ROMs is now the recommended source material for the FGDP(UK)'s Key Skills in Primary Dental Care Assessment for DCPs, and covers three of the General Dental Council's core CPD subjects (radiography, medical emergencies, and infection control).
