Adult Antimicrobial Prescribing in Primary Dental Care for General Dental Practitioners
Adult Antimicrobial Prescribing in Primary Dental Care for General Dental Practitioners Published 2000, updated 2006 |
This is the third document in the standards series, written to help general dental practitioners with prescribing of antimicrobial agents in the primary care setting. The authors have reviewed all the available data and consulted widely with professional bodies and specialist groups in order to obtain a consensus on best clinical practice. The guidance gives clear, simple and practical advice on when to prescribe, what to prescribe, for how long and in what dose. This document is intended to complement the Dental Practitioners Formulary and will be reviewed regularly and revised as new information becomes available.
A review of this publication in light of new guidance on the prevention of infective endocarditis, issued by the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy in April 2006, led to revisions of page 28 and 32-36. See below for further information. |
