AIM
To enable dentists, DCPs and other members of the dental team to provide effective quality assurance assessment and advice in the dental care setting and to establish and maintain standards of professional appraisal.
COURSE CONTENT
Measuring quality in the health care sector; personal skills (i.e. coaching and mentoring); current legislation and guidelines; principles of communication and management; and assessment in primary dental care. Please click here for the full Prospectus and FAQ Sheet.
TEACHING & ASSESSMENT
- Undertake three practice appraisals in the nine month between the first two contact learning days and the third assessment day.
- Portfolio of Evidence
- Simulated scenarios
- Practice feedback
- Knowledge testing
- 360 degree feedback after each key practice visit (initial, presentation of report, final audit)
- 360 degree feedback from practice visited at the end of the process
- Assessment of written report to practice
- Assessment of reflective commentary at the end of the process
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
None, course is relevant to: practice assessors, team members interested in quality assurance, dental advisors, FGDP(UK) assessors/examiners and mentors.
DURATION
Four contact learning days: Day 1 & 2 followed by Day 3 approximately 9 months later and a Day 4 in Change Management
NUMBER OF PLACES AVAILABLE
24 per course.
LOCATION
Usually the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The course has recently been held for the first time in Scotland at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is likely to be held at this location again in the future.
COST
£1550 for FGDP members £1650 for Non FGDP members
START DATE

CREDITS
Successful completion of the programme gives participants 30 'management' credits which may be used towards stage 2 of the FGDP(UK)'s Career Pathway.
