Diploma in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management

Aim

To provide those involved in the provision of dental care with a range of educational experiences that will advance their knowledge and competence in the operational and strategic management of dental services.  Please click here for a prospectus and an FAQ sheet.

Teaching & assessment

Each module incorporates one weekend workshop followed by a written assignment completed over a two-month period.  Each assignment is assessed.

Minimum requirements

None. Course is relevant to: GDPs, DCPs, practice managers and dental advisors.

Duration

The duration is dependent on the number of modules you decide to take.

Each module lasts 2 months- this includes a 3 day residential module followed by a 3,000 word essay which is submitted by the next module.

Completion of all 8 modules is over two years, part-time.

Number of places available

16 per module.

Location

Choice of two: Harrogate, North Yorkshire and/or Gatwick, Surrey.

Similarly, if you are interested in only taking one or two modules we accept applications on an ongoing basis. Please make sure you apply 2 weeks in advance of the module you are applying for.

Costs

Diploma (8 modules): £6000

One module: £850

In addition, a residential or day delegate rate is also payable at each module.  Please see the course prospectus or enquire for details.

Credits

Any 2 modules can be taken individually, each equating to 15 postgraduate credits.  Participants must attend and pass all eight modules for the award of the FGDP(UK) Diploma in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management.  Credits may be used towards the 'management' and 'other' components of Stage 2 of the FGDP(UK)'s Career Pathway, with 30 credits fully satisfying each component.

The FGDP(UK) has retrospectively granted 15 credits to successful participants who have completed any module of the Diploma in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management prior to January 2008.  This means that all previous participants of this programme may now transfer 15 management credits per module completed to the FGDP(UK) Career Pathway.
