This diploma, awarded jointly by the Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, allows DCPs to register with the General Dental Council as an orthodontic therapist.
To complete the diploma participants are require to undertake an approved training programme and a final assessment. There are currently two training programmes available, the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy course, based at the University of Leeds, and the South Wales Orthodontic Therapy course, based at Cardiff Dental School.
