Touchstone is the FGDP(UK)’s online portfolio available to all members and those registered on FGDP(UK) education programmes, study groups and assessments. Its core functionality is to provide a central place for recording and evaluating all continuing professional development (CPD) activity and evidence.
Touchstone will make it easier for all dental professionals to:
Manage CPD activity for a range of purposes, including General Dental Council (GDC) submission
Bring together all relevant personal resources to build a portfolio of evidence for MJDF and Fellowship assessment
Present learning, achievements and goals as part of performance reviews
Provide comprehensive submissions to meet current (eg Primary Care Trust) and future (eg, revalidation and Care Quality Commission) requirements
Record evidence and progress, evaluate outcomes and reflect on achievements as part of, eg, course submissions or practice appraisals
Share ideas, facilitate group discussions, and upload presentations and meeting records for all types of projects
Build CVs and prepare for job interviews
Link to many other resources such as e-Den (e-learning programme for foundation training), GDC core skills, FGDP(UK) Key Skills, Dentists with Special Interest (DwSI) frameworks, etc.
Users ‘own’ the information they record on Touchstone and can choose what they wish to share with peers, tutors, assessors etc. Flexibility is at the core of Touchstone, typified by the fact that it can be accessed from any PC or via an iphone.
