What is an FGDP(UK) member?
If you are looking at this page the chances are it's because you clicked on a link on a dental professional's website. The link probably looked something like this:
So what does membership of the FGDP(UK) mean?
The FGDP(UK) is not an organisation that dental professionals have to join. It's a choice that is usually made for a combination of personal and professional reasons. The FGDP(UK) exists to improve standards of patient care. Our members are people who share that committment, both in their own practice and in the dental profession as a whole.
What that means in reality is that your dental professional receives quarterly mailings from the FGDP(UK) containing the latest research and articles on dentistry. Most members buy our books about dental standards and good practice. They may well have been on one or more of our post-qualification courses, enhancing their professional skills. In the case of dentists they may also be on the FGDP(UK) Career Pathway working their way towards Fellowship of the faculty.
Whatever their level of involvement you should see membership of the FGDP(UK) as a strong indication that your dental professional has the interests of patients at heart. No pratitioner is perfect, but FGDP(UK) members are committed to improving and improving.
