Members' Area
Once you become a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK), you will be issued with a username and password to allow you access to members-only online resources. This access is provided via the Athens authentication system which is used for both members of the FGDP(UK) and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. See the RCS's Athens information page for further details.
An Athens username and password allows FGDP(UK) members to access:
- Primary Dental Care journal and the CPD quiz
- Team in Practice journal and quizzes
- First-Hand – The newsletter of the FGDP(UK)
- The online library of the Royal College of Surgeons of England
Members can also change their contact details as they appear on the Membership list area of the FGDP(UK)'s website by accessing the members' area using their Athens username and password.

If you do not have an Athens password, please contact the Membership Officer, giving your membership details, and you will be issued with another.
Please note: If you are a member of the FGDP(UK), you should not be asked to pay any further fees for downloading Primary Dental Care articles. If you are asked to pay a fee, or if you have any problems logging in, please visit our Members' Area FAQ page for more information.
