Foreword
Continuing education is the primary focus of the Faculty’s activities. It is the Education Department’s aim to develop and administer a wide spectrum of courses and training programmes for general dental practitioners (GDPs) and dental care professionals.
Of the seven postgraduate programmes the Faculty offers, the FGDP(UK) Diploma in Implant Dentistry continues to grow in success as we now embark on the third regional intake of participants in Leeds from September 2010 and the eighth intake of participants in London from February 2010.
The Education Department has steadily increased the number of postgraduate training programmes offered as we continue to identify those areas where GDPs are looking for formal recognition. In 2007 we launched a Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics in collaboration with the British Orthodontic Society, as well as an MSc in Primary Dental Care in collaboration with the University of Kent.
Through continuing education, GDPs will also benefit from the support of the Career Pathway which leads to the award of the FFGDP(UK). Progression on the Career Pathway can be attained by successful completion of a number of postgraduate programmes, including the Diploma in Dental Health Services Leadership and Management, Certificate in Appraisal of Dental Practices, Certificate in Mentoring in Dentistry, Diploma in Implant Dentistry and the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. Further details on the Faculty's postgraduate programmes can be found on the Apply for Courses page.
I hope you find the website useful and interesting and we look forward to welcoming you on one of our courses in the near future.
Mr Trevor Ferguson FGDP(UK) Member and Chairman of the Education Committee
